If you want to use Twitter Fleets, better hurry up. Why, you ask? Twitter announced that its own version of Stories — Fleets will soon be disabled.
Introduced only a few months ago Twitter Fleets were supposed to be as popular as Insta Stories. Or even more. Are they even similar, you ask? Let’s check. 🙂
Twitter Stories – Fleets vs Instagram Stories
Very similar to Insta Stories, Fleets appear at the top of the home timeline. Moreover, exactly like on Instagram, Twitter Stories, Fleets, are out of sight after 24 hours.
How can you use Fleets?
You can share personal thoughts with your followers i.e. memories from journeys, recipes, a coverage of your day. Fleet authors can see who is viewing their fleets, including tweet-protected accounts, by clicking on their fleets and tapping the Seen Through text at the bottom.
As we can read on the Twitter Support feed, Fleets was designed and implemented to animate conversations by helping Twitter users feel more comfortable.
But they end up being unused, so on the 14th of July Twitter announced the end of Fleets.
As we can read in Supports Tweets, the reports about this feature were not favourable. The company said the number of people joining the conversation in this way is below expectations. That’s why Twitter decided to focus on “newer and better ways to start conversations” and Fleets will soon disappear from this social media platform.
As Twitter announced, Fleets will no longer be available on Aug. 3, 2021. So, if you want to try this feature — better hurry up 🙂
